Who Might Dominate? 'Ye and Jigga or Drizzy and Weezy?
We know for sure that Kanye West and Jay-Z are working on a hip-hop collaboration album, but is a reported Drizzy Drake and Weezy album on the back burner, and if so, who might dominate? According to sources, the oft-discussed collaborative effort is in the process of being recorded and a Drake interview with Tim Westwood seems to corroborate these reports.
"We've done a great song... and then we're going to do another one, and another one," he says. "We still got to do that album. I heard some other guys are coming out with an album, too. I don't know where they got that idea but..."
This comes amid swirling rumors that Jigga's verse on "H.A.M." is a diss towards the Young Money crew after Baby from the hip hop family spoke ill about Jay-Z and his appearance on MTV's list of best rappers ever. The lyric in question states, "I'm like, 'Really, half a billi? Nigga, reall you got baby money."
With Kanye and Jay's Watch The Throne scheduled for a February release and a Lil Wayne/Drake collaboration album expected a release in 2011, it will surely be interesting to see which duo comes out on top. Although Kanye and Jay are normally at a sales advantage over any other hip hop act, a Weezy/Drizzy Drake album could very well end up on top, especially if their lead single produces enormous buzz. I guess we'll just have to see who owns the throne later this year, but no doubt that these diss rumors will further intensify the promotion for both albums.
