Rihanna Poised to Make UK Chart History

2010 was a very good year for Rihanna and it appears that 2011 may conserve that momentum. After selling one million albums in the United Kingdom alone with her fifth studio album Loud in less than two months, the Bajan singer's single "What's My Name?" may make it to number one this week on the singles chart. According to midweek figures, the U.S. number one hit is poised to take Matt Cardle's X-Factor coronation song's spot at the top this week, making it her fifth number one in as many years.

If "What's My Name?" takes the top spot in next week's chart, it will add to the catalogue of number one songs that songstress has accumulated under belt. In 2007, "Umbrella" topped the chart for a record 10 weeks in the UK, followed by "Take A Bow" in 2008, "Run This Town" in 2009, and "Only Girl (In the World)" in 2010. If her Drake-assisted single officially makes the jump from 2 to 1 this week, she will be the first female artist to achieve five number ones in five consecutive years. It would also make her only the second artist to do so, alongside Elvis Presley.

This comes after her album reached number one this week on the UK Chart as well as the Global Albums Chart, which accumulates sales from charts around the world. Seems that Rihanna is in a very, very good place this year.
