New Music: "Stoned" by Wiz Khalifa

The "Black and Yellow" Pittsburgh emcee has decided to do a bit more singing and a lot less rhyming on a brand new song, titled "Stoned." Produced by Stargate, the beat features stuttering synths and a strong bass, with an electric guitar piercing in the background. Although the sound is not as catchy as "Black and Yellow," and the song has that Rebirth-era Lil Wayne vibe, it is an interesting effort from the western Pennsylvania native. Production-wise, it solidifies the production team's ability to make serious hip hop beats even if though their forte has been in the pop and R&B arena.

The song's lyrical content revolves around Wiz Khalifa's struggles coming up in the music industry, crooning about not being let into the club, radio neglecting his music, and his women troubles. He reserves his singing for the moments of his past in which he faced adversity, then interrupts his warbling with a few bars of unfettered spitting about the newly ushered good times with which he's been greeted. The marijuana is his escape, but so is his flow and lyricism, which saves the song from being a subpar sophomore track. It still lacks the shine and ingenuity of his ode to Pittsburgh, but there's something about this track that might get some crossover success on radio and who cannot rally behind an underdog anthem such as this track.

Listen below to the track.

Glee Goes Gaga for Gaga

One of the most anticipated albums of 2011 is Lady Gaga's follow up to her 2009 release The Fame Monster EP and it appears that Glee wants a piece of her ever-burgeoning fame. The co-creator of the television series, Ryan Murphy, has told Entertainment Weekly that the lead single from her new album will likely be featured in an episode expected to air in March or April, and was chosen for its inspirational lyrics. The episode, which will revolve around gay bullying and homophobia, is not the first to honor Lady Gaga as a May 2010 episode paid tribute to the pop star's music and fashion.

Rihanna and Nicki Minaj Pose on Set of "Fly"

Rihanna and Nicki Minaj were look smoking hot on the set of music video for "Fly," the third single off of Nicki's debut album Pink Friday. Tweeted on the Bajan singer's twitter page, the picture shows Rihanna sporting a straightened, fiery-red hairdo while Nicki was wearing a long, curly, almost jet-black wig. The photo initiated a flirty exchange between the two artists, with Rihanna tweeting, "Me and Nikki (sic) in our new crib, lol! Gettin busy on set of FLY!!! Its so hard to keep my hands off," to which Nicki replied, "lol. If we're gonna liv 2gthr and hook up u gotta learn how 2 spell my name! Lmaooooooo. ---- Gossip Gossip ni#@ just stop it! :p." Jokingly, Rihanna replied to Nicki's tweet by tweeting, "b*tch don't u hear me askin what my OWN name is??? Lol! My bad, I'll make it up to u *wink*," referring to the 22 year old's hit song, "What's My Name?"

In other Rihanna news, the singer makes UK history as the first female artist to have a number one in each of the past five years, with her first number one hit "Umbrella" topping the UK charts in 2007 and her aforementioned hit "What's My Name?" getting to number one this week. The singer's LP has also stayed for a second week at number one on the UK albums chart and is almost 4x platinum in the country with less than two months worth of sales.
