Adele Makes UK Chart History; To Be US #1

Adele is one of those artists that does not necessarily need to conduct a major promotional campaign for her album to get to that renowned number one spot on the Billboard 200. An artist of her vocal abilities works purely on the talents she possesses rather than the oft-utilized gimmicks we all too often witness with today's pop starlets. Don't get me wrong, I love me those gimmicks, but the refreshing sounds of an artist who can do it all and prove themselves with just their vocal chords and a mic is a remarkable achievement.

The 22-year-old's sophomore album, 21, has been instrumental in breaking tons of records so far. Her album debuted to sales not seen in the UK from a January release in over a decade, while she recently matched a record only achieved by The Beatles and John Lennon when she secured two top 5 spots on the singles and albums chart in the UK. Now it appears the London-native is approaching the best sales week of 2011 in the US as HitsDailyDouble has projected the singer to push upwards of 300,000 copies of her new album this week. Furthermore, these projections may actually inflate a bit as the week continues, perhaps pushing 320,000 by weeks end.

"Rolling In The Deep" is also doing wonders on the US end of the Atlantic as her song has maintained a top ten spot on the iTunes songs chart for the past five days and will likely increase over the week as her album has officially been released. If the song reaches a peak above #21, it will become her most successful single on the Billboard Hot 100 as her UK #1 "Chasing Pavements" reached number 21 shortly after her performance on SNL back in October 2008. If you must know, she performed on Saturday Night Live when (by coincidence) Sarah Palin made her cameo appearance back in the day, ya know, when the U.S. Presidential Election was still in contention. I'll do my album review shortly!
