Rihanna and Bruno Mars Dominate UK Charts

Rihanna spends a third week atop the UK album chart with her fifth studio album Loud, while Bruno Mars debuts at the penthouse position on the singles chart this week. Rihanna's album, which debuted at number two behind Take That's Progress in November, has become a steady seller into the new year as the album has held the top spot for all charting weeks of the new year. The triple-platinum album has held off Plan B's The Defamation of Strickland Banks which moves to number two this week.

Check below for the top ten albums and singles in the UK:

Bruno Mars's number-one stateside hit "Grenade" is now dominating both shores of the Atlantic as it debuts atop the UK Singles Chart this week, after unseating Rihanna's "What's My Name?" The song survived advances from Jessie J's "Do It Like A Dude," which moves up three spots to number two. This is Mars's third number one on the charts over the span of less than a year, whose  featured vocals on B.o.B's "Nothin' On You" earned him his first debut atop the charts last May.

With Rihanna's amazing sales from this album, which is nearing 4x platinum, it appears that this album may end up meeting or exceeding the sales of her best selling UK (and international) album, the 5x-platinum selling Good Girl Gone Bad. However, the strongest foreseeable contender to unseat her tenure atop the albums chart is none other than Bruno Mars, whose Doo-Wop & Hooligans is expected to do very well when it is released on January 17 in the UK.
