Rihanna Snubbed By Chase & Status

The production duo who worked on most of Rihanna's Rated R album have admitted that they snubbed the "What's My Name?" singer after suggestions of her interest in working with them for their new album No More Idols. They made it known that they respect the singer and have no personal qualms working with her on future projects, but their goal was to "showcase fresh and cutting edge UK talent."

They went on to say, "We're known for working with new artist like Plan B and that's what really excites us." Ironically, the album does have a collaboration with Cee-Lo Green, who is American, on a track titled "Brixton Briefcase." When asked about it, they said, "That’s what a Brixton briefcase is and Cee-Lo loved it. There was no ego at all. He was just like, ‘I’ll do whatever you want me to do.’ Working with him was cool.”

Although it might come across as disrespectful, it is their prerogative with whom they choose to work. Furthermore, their music has always been much more a display of UK talent than dependent on the whims of pop music, and therefore working with Rihanna just for the sake of chart success seems out of sorts to how we've come to know Chase & Status. I will say that the collaborations between the three have produced great things for Rihanna's fourth studio album and I would've loved to hear how new music between them would have sounded, but this album will not feature it.
