VIDEO PREMIERE: "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga

In the 1980s, Michael Jackson and Madonna were in a league of their own in the soaring depths of the pop world. The release of their music and accompanying videos were not simply radio and music television programming dates, they were major events of pop cultural significance, marking new breakthroughs and new topics of conversation that transcended generational and gender divides.

If ever there was an artist to follow in the footsteps of these two, it would have to be Lady Gaga. The virtual lovechild of Madge and MJ, Gaga's recent musical endeavors are 21st century by-products of this pop icon admixture, a sort of birthing of a new generation of pop saints that mirrors the birth of Gaga's new non-judgmental, non-prejudicial race. After watching Gaga's new music video, it appears this was the goal of the visual.

Flashing images of birth portrayed in avant-garde style, Gaga painted as a skeleton, swirling CGI graphics of good versus evil, and homages to the aforementioned pop icons coalesce into a video that once again pushes the boundaries of what Gaga aims to project. It's a lot to digest, a lot to take in, and a lot to analyze. Take a look below:
