Adele's Very Inexpensive Studio Time With Ryan Tedder

Imagine working with the one of the biggest songwriters/producers in pop music today for free. Well that was a reality for Adele, whose studio time with Ryan Tedder came to a grand total of zero dollars and zero cents. The "Rolling In The Deep" singer has revealed that Tedder's reverence for the singer and strong friendship gave her the opportunity to work without pay.

"I loved working with Ryan," she said in an interview with the Daily Star. "And he came cheap. I didn't pay him."

The two met back in LA one night after meeting in a lift. "I was holding 100 balloons, so the lift was full but he could hear me laughing inside. He got in the lift and started popping all the balloons and said we had to work together. We met again in London."

The two's meeting would involve studio time for the two, in which the OneRepublic frontman and "Bleeding Love" writer worked with the Brit in co-writing a track titled "Rumor Has It" from her sophomore album 21.

Although Ryan Tedder's songs are almost invariably hits, they also have a very mainstream, top 40 appeal to them that doesn't quite fit into the mold Adele has shaped with her music. She is a very unique artist with a 60s retro sound and if Tedder wants to preserve that magic, he will have to work outside of the framework within which he typically operates. I'll reserve my thoughts until I hear the song, but if its anything close to the gem, "Rolling in the Deep," then it might be a surprisingly great collaboration.
