NEW MUSIC: "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" has made its official premiere, the official lead single from the singer's upcoming album of the same name. Produced by DJ White Shadow, Fernando Garibay, and Gaga herself, the song has been described as this generation's anthem of acceptance, self-respect, and tolerance. Listen to the track below:

The song has that "When Love Takes Over" vibe, with heavy synths and a 90's retro feel to it. It is centered around a feel-good message coupled with electronic beat stutters and hand claps, but, to be perfectly honest, is a bit underwhelming. While the message is most definitely something that should be respected and honored, the song sounds out-dated and not nearly as catchy as "Just Dance" or "Bad Romance," the previous two lead singles that have earned Lady Gaga much critical and chart success.

This is not to say that the song will underperform or do poorly, as it most certainly will not. It will likely be a chart-topper, especially with a Grammy performance, Glee episode in the works, and the fact that Gaga's name recognition and prestige in the industry is above reproach. But this song is just not giving me the musical or-GaGa-sm I had anticipated.
