Rihanna VS Chris Brown: It's Over Officially

Blogs and even respected music publications have done their part to intensify the well-publicized altercation between Rihanna and Chris Brown. After the domestic violence case, Chris Brown was punished with probation, forced to attend DV courses, community service, and an order of protection that requires the "Deuces" singer from coming within 50 yards of his former girlfriend, with the exception of events that both attend, in which that distance is reduced to 10 yards.

What ever "side" you've taken in this matter (yes, it is sad that so many have taken sides to support as if this were some rehearsed and mutually beneficial publicity stunt), it appears the order of protection may soon be lifted, at the request of both Chris Brown and Rihanna. Brown's legal team has formally requested that the order be lifted, which has been the cause of last-minute award show absences by one or the other in order to prevent any legal problems from ensuing. Now Rihanna and her legal team have agreed to lift the order.

Some have taken offense at the gesture, but Chris Brown has for the most part proven that he has changed. From the glowing remarks by the judge in the case, his successful completion of the domestic violence course, and a discernible maturity in his demeanor, it's safe to say Brown has learned his lesson and is finally prepared to move past this. By Rihanna agreeing to the order being lifted, she is not endangering herself but finally putting past a chapter that has caused great pain for all involved. The judge still has to sign off on it and there is no guarantee that the five-year order will be lifted, but at least progress is being made.
